JOHNSON MEMORIAL HOSPITAL AUXILIARY

ohnson Memorial Hospital enjoys the support of a dedicated group of individuals known as the Johnson Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. Members of the Auxiliary are volunteers whose desire to help lies in the fact that they, like their family, friends and neighbors, rely on the services of JMH and its sister corporations in time of need. These special individuals serve as loyal ambassadors, promoting the Hospital throughout the communities in which they live, while raising funds to benefit various healthcare services.

Among the activities sponsored by the JMH Auxiliary are an annual fashion show, women's golf tournament and holiday boutique, as well as sportswear, jewelry and handbag sales. In addition, the Auxiliary operates a successful Gift Shop located in the Hospital's main lobby, which features many unique items and collectibles, stuffed animals, flowers, cards, holiday gifts, candies and more.

In recent years, proceeds of the Auxiliary's fundraising efforts have enabled it to generously support such services as obstetrics, pediatrics and cancer education. In 2004, Auxiliary members completed a three-year, $60,000 pledge to fund the refurbishing of two patient rooms in the Hospital's Medical/Surgical Units. Funds were also used to purchase a fetal pulse oximeter for Family Birth Suites at the Nirenberg Center for Women & Infants. Currently, Auxiliary members are working towards a $100,000 pledge to benefit the renovation and expansion of the Hospital's Emergency Department.

The Auxiliary is always happy to welcome new members. Individuals interested in becoming involved can participate in a variety of ways, depending on what best suits their schedule. For example, they may attend meetings, staff the Gift Shop, sign up for special event committees, become officers or help to recruit new members. It is a rewarding experience, giving participants an opportunity to meet fellow community members who share a common interest in the health of this community.
